Takchita Morocco
Moroccan Takchita
The oriental fashion, and moreover Moroccan, is very rich, it gathers numerous outfits with very own characteristics. However, it is obvious that the Takchita and the Caftan easily confuse us to the point of not knowing how to distinguish one from the other.
That's why, today I'm offering you a special Takchita refresher course.
- Takchita or Caftan?
- The specificities of this Moroccan dress
- Takchita Moderns new trends
In short, a lot of questions that I intend to answer in this new article...
Takchita or Caftan?
Contrary to what one might think, the Takchita is a derivative of the Caftan.
You all know that the Moroccan caftan has one piece, one tunic, whereas the Takchita has at least two.
These two pieces are subtly superimposed and form a harmonious and elegant whole. The Tahtiya, which corresponds to the tunic below, is generally very simple, by which I mean that it has less ornamentation than the Dfina, which, as you will have understood, is the second layer.
Fashion also has its little technical vocabulary, the only problem is that in Morocco, the language has regional specificities. Thus in some places, the Fouquia will designate the Dfina etc... Just as for the Caftan, the Sfifa and the aakads are de rigueur in the Moroccan Takchita.
The specificities of this Moroccan dress
The Takchita, unlike the Caftan, cannot do without a belt, the famous Mdamma, which emphasizes the waist and completes the outfit. It also involves a significant amount of handicraft work.
In Morocco, the distinction is made without problems, and one or the other of these outfits is rightly designated. This is unfortunately not the case everywhere.
Indeed, with the growing popularity of Moroccan fashion, the abuse of language exists. Thus, internationally, Caftan includes all these outfits, but it must be admitted, this word sounds much better to the ear ...
Takchita Moderns new trends
At the annual Caftan fashion show, which is held every year in Morocco, the vast majority of dresses that crowd the catwalk are takchitas, but they are referred to as caftans...
What is certain is that this Moroccan dress, allows even more mixtures of fabrics and indefinitely tests the inspiration of designers Moroccan and elsewhere.
The traditional elements of takchitas are preserved, but for everything else, designers have free rein. They are inspired by particular eras that have marked history or women with an exceptional life path, the theme chosen for the event "Caftan".
Whatever the case, we all agree that the Takchita rhymes with elegance, femininity and tradition. This dress is mainly worn during weddings, and it is not for nothing if this dress is the dress par excellence of the Moroccan bride.
